Basic Telephone Guide
Learn how to perform the basic telephone operations applicable to all Cisco VoIP phones at Reed.
- Placing calls

Placing calls
- for on campus calls,
- dial the 4-digit extension of the person you’re calling
- for off campus calls,
- dial the # key to get an outside line
- dial 1 (if necessary), then the area code and number
Checking your voicemail
Note: when you have a new voicemail, the light on your handset will be red.- push the “messages” button on your phone:


- enter your PIN, followed by the # key
- follow prompts to check your messages

Accessing your voicemail from another phone
- from on campus dial 5555, followed by * (from off campus, dial 503-517-5555, followed by *)
- when prompted for “your ID”, enter your 4-digit extension followed by #
- enter your PIN, followed by #
- follow prompts to check your messages
Setting your Voicemail Greeting
- push the “messages” button on your phone:


- enter your PIN, followed by the # key
- press 4 for setup options
- press 1 for greetings
- press 1 to record your voicemail greeting
- follow prompts to record your greeting
Setting your PIN & Recorded Name
- push the “messages” button on your phone:


- enter the default PIN of 1234, followed by the # key
- press 4 for setup options
- press 3 for preferences
- press 1 to change your PIN
- follow prompts to change your PIN
- press 2 to record your name
- follow prompts to save your Recorded Name
- follow prompts to save your Recorded Name
Using speakerphone
Push the “SPEAKER” button on your phone:
