Support for Third Party Printers and Peripherals

updated 11/15/2022

A wide variety of computer peripherals (printers, hard drives, etc.) cost less than $500 and are often purchased directly by departments, rather than by IT. IT sells some peripherals through the Computer Store. Staff and faculty are advised to consult with the Store or other IT departments before purchasing peripherals with Reed funds.  If the Store does not offer a suitable product, IT may be able to recommend one that will work well with the Reed computing environment and is most supportable by IT staff.

It is rarely cost-effective to repair inexpensive peripherals. IT staff can assist you in determining options for repair or replacement, but IT generally will not cover the cost of repairs.
