Telephone Web Guide

There are a variety of telephone tasks you can perform over the web including but not limited to checking your voicemail messages, setting up speed dials and changing your pin. We have documented the most common operations below.

Note: Currently, these web interfaces are only available from on campus. Firefox or Safari are recommended browsers.

Checking your voicemail messages

  • Go to https://square.reed.edu/ciscopca 
  • Accept or add the security certificate when prompted (Safari users will need to "Continue"; Firefox users will need to "Add an Exception")
  • Login with your Kerberos username and password
  • Click the "Web Inbox" link
  • If prompted to accept certificates or allow access, click "Trust" or "Allow"
  • To listen to a message, press the Play icon 
  • You may delete, forward or download messages

Setting up speed dials

The number of speed dial settings depends on the model and configuration of your phone.
  • Go to https://dode.reed.edu/ucmuser
  • Accept or add the security certificate when prompted (Safari users will need to "Continue"; Firefox users will need to "Add an Exception")
  • Login with your Kerberos username and password
  • If prompted to accept certificates or allow access, click "Trust" or "Allow"
  • Click the "Phone Settings" tab on the left
  • Click the "Speed Dials" tab and "Add New Speed Dial"
  • Under "Speed Dial Settings", enter the number and a label (the name to be displayed on your phone). For off-campus numbers, enter #, 1 (if necessary), followed by the area code and 7-digit number (eg, #5035555555 or #13105555555).
  • When done, click the "Save" button at the bottom
  • A short while later, the speed dials will be available from your phone

Changing your pin

This pin is used to access your voicemail directly from your phone and when calling in from off campus.
  • Go to https://penta.reed.edu/ciscopca/
  • Accept or add the security certificate when prompted (Safari users will need to "Continue"; Firefox users will need to "Add an Exception")
  • Login with your Kerberos username and password
  • If prompted to accept certificates or allow access, click "Trust" or "Allow"
  • Click the "Messaging Assistant" link
  • From the "Passwords" drop-down menu near the top, choose "Change Pin"
  • Enter your current pin in the "Current Password" box
  • Enter your new pin and confirm it
  • Click "Save" when done

Setting up email notifications for voicemail

You can choose to receive an email notification when voicemail is left for you.

    • Go to https://penta.reed.edu/ciscopca/
    • Accept or add the security certificate when prompted (Safari users will need to "Continue"; Firefox users will need to "Add an Exception")
    • Login with your Kerberos username and password
    • Click the "Messaging Assistant" link
    • From the "Notification Devices" drop-down menu near the top, choose "View Notification Devices"
    • Click "SMTP"
    • Check the box that says "Notification Enabled"
    • Click the "Email" link listed under the Device column
    • In the "To" field, enter the email address that will receive the notification (e.g. username@reed.edu)
    • In the "From" field, enter your Reed phone number (eg, 5035555555)
    • Enter something appropriate for the "Message Header" such as "Voicemail Waiting" (this will appear in the first line of the notification email)
    • Check the boxes if you want the email to:
      • Include Message Counts in Message Text (cumulative message count)
      • Include Message Information in Message Text (name/phone number of caller and timestamp)
      • Include a Link to Cisco PCA in Message Text (link to listen to voicemail -- this link only works on campus)
    • In the "Notify Me Of" section, select "All Voice Messages"
    • Click the "Save" button near the top left.
    • IMPORTANT:  Do not alter settings on this page, other than those listed above, without consulting telecom at telecomrequest@reed.edu

Email notification settings

When someone leaves you a message, you will receive an email with the subject: "Message notification: Voice message from…"
