Transferring Files with Fugu

Once you are connected, you will see the contents of your Home Server in the right-side box of the window (where you logged in). The left-side box shows you what is on your local machine. The default location for the left side is in your local home directory. You can navigate through your local files by double-clicking on the folders, or using the drop-down menu above them. The style of navigation is the same for your local files on the left and your remote files (i.e., your Home Server) on the right.

Once you have navigated both sides of the Fugu window to the appropriate directory, transferring files from your computer to your Home Server or Courses Server is simple. Use your mouse to drag the files from the left-side box (your computer) to the right-side box (your Home Server or Courses Server). That's it! You should now see the files appear on the right-side box (your Home Server or Courses Server).

Adding a Favorite Server to Fugu

You can speed up the whole process of connecting to a server by using Favorites. Fugu allows you to add connections to a list of favorites, which you can easily select later to avoid having to enter all your information every time.

  1. Go back to the login window.  If you are connected to the Home Server or Courses Server, you need to disconnect.  Click on the Disconnect button from the toolbar at the top.
  2. Enter the appropriate information in the Connect to: and Username: fields.  Enter /courses in the Directory: field, if you want to add a Favorite to the Courses Server.
  3. Then click on the Add to Favorites button at the bottom.

To connect to  a Favorite

Underneath the Connect to: box, you will see two small drop-down menus. The one on the right has a small blue globe on it. When you click on it you will see all of your Favorites (see below). Simply select the one you want, and it will fill in your information for you. Then hit connect. It will still ask you for your password.
