Norton AntiVirus at Reed
Every Reed community member has free access to Norton AntiVirus, an excellent virus scanner for Windows and Macintosh. And Peter Norton is even a Reed alum!
Even if you already have antivirus software on your computer, it's likely to be a trial version that will soon expire. Even most consumer versions make you pay for a new subscription every year. Our version never expires! You're free to use it as long as you're still at Reed.
It's very important to have antivirus software that is always kept up to date; for Windows users it is required in order to use the Reed network. It's a good idea for Mac users too - while there aren't any serious viruses (yet) for Mac OS X, Norton AntiVirus will protect against Word macro viruses, and can also stop you from accidentally passing on viruses to your Windows-using friends.
User Agreement
Reed has a license to install a copy of Norton AntiVirus on each college owned machine.
In addition, each current student, staff and faculty member of Reed College may install one (1) copy of Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition on a personally owned machine.
Note: When you leave Reed College (you graduate, or your employment ends) you must remove the copy of Norton AntiVirus from your machine. (The College will take care of copies on college-owned machines.)
By downloading the software, you agree that you are a current Reed community member as described above and that you will remove your copy when your association with the college ends.
You can only download the software if you are on campus, or using the web proxy.
