Configuration Settings for IMAP
This document contains common settings for IMAP compatible clients. Only users who are familiar with IMAP will find this document useful. For support with specific clients, please see our client support pages.
Reed's IMAP Settings
Configure your client with the following settings:
- The server is imap.reed.edu.
- Your username is your network username (example: if your first name was Firstname, and your last name was Lastname, your username would be lastnamf).
- Your password is your network password.
- Enable Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
- The port is 993 (typically denoted as default).
Reed's SMTP Settings
Configure your client with the following settings:
- The server is smtp.reed.edu.
- If your client allows, Authentication should be set to Password (or GSSAPI).
- Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or TLS should be enabled.
- The port number is 587. Alternatively, the default setting (port 25) may also work.
Reed's LDAP Settings
Configure your client with the following settings:
- The server is ldap.reed.edu.
- For Search Base, enter (exactly as shown): ou=people,dc=reed,dc=edu.
- The port is 389.
