Norton AntiVirus Installation Instructions for Mac OS 10.2

Overview

Below is the Norton AntiVirus install procedure for Mac OS X 10.2.

Print and follow the installation instructions below. As an aid, you can also follow with the User Guide. If you are unsure or have questions, email CUS or call us at x7525. If you understand the user agreement and understand the instructions below, then you are ready to download and install Norton AntiVirus for Mac OS 10.2.

Note: The installation below is for Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar only. Go to our Symantec AntiVirus page if you are on Mac OS 10.3 or higher (Panther, Tiger, Leopard).
If you are using Mac OS 9 or older, please visit these archive pages for download and install instructions.

Go to the Academic Software Symantec AntiVirus page and download Norton AntiVirus for Mac OS 10.2.

Brief Installation Instructions

Download and run the installer. The installer will ask you several questions, and for most of them keep the default settings.

It is very important that you run LiveUpdate from the Norton AntiVirus application soon after installation. Otherwise, you will not have the latest virus protection. To update your virus protection, run the Norton AntiVirus application and click the LiveUpdate button. Then click the Update Everything Now button.

Detailed Installation Instructions

1. Download the installation file. Double click the installation file.
2. Click the Continue button.
3. 
4. Read the license agreement and if you accept the terms, click the Accept button.
5. 
6. Click the Continue button.

8. Select the Easy Install option. You probably have a different installation location than the one shown below, but your default installation location should suffice. Then click the Install button.

10. Click the OK button.

12. Click the Quit button. Save all of your work in other applications. Then restart your computer.

14. After you have restarted your computer, start the Norton AntiVirus application by double clicking on its icon in the Applications folder. To get to the Applications folder from the Finder, click the Go menu and select the Applications menu item.
15. If the following window appears, click the Run LiveUpdate button. Otherwise, you will not have the latest virus protection.

17. Click the LiveUpdate button.

19. Click the Update Everything Now button. Otherwise you will not have the latest virus protection.
20. 
21. This completes the setup process.
