The Deal
For $250 ($200 refundable deposit + $50 fee) you can borrow a G4 iBook for the duration of the academic year. Each iBook computer has MS Office, thunderbird, firefox, norton antivirus and other software. They also have built in Airport Extreme Wireless, ethernet, a modem, CD/CD-R/DVD drive, 512MB RAM, and 40GB hard drive, all safely tucked into a carrying case.
The Rules
To be eligible for a Lottery Mac, you must be either
- a senior and/or
- a student on financial aid and
- you must be currently attending classes at Reed.
Also, we request that students who already own a computer not apply...
You need to complete a Lottery Application Form and turn it in to any of these places: IRC Help Desk, Computer Hardware Shop (ETC 114) or the Computer Store (ETC 116). The Application must be turned in no later than Wednesday, September 17th. Names will be drawn in a properly conducted lottery.
If you are a winner, you must come up with the $50 fee, plus a refundable $200 damage deposit. You will get to sign an Equipment Loan Contract that basically states you’ll be good to the computer and you’ll give it back in good working form.
