Working Weekend Meetups
What's Working Weekend MeetUp?
MeetUp is a one-hour long networking event wherein you have the opportunity to book online appointments with mentors who will be in one of four classrooms in Vollum during the hour. You will put in your top eight choices (even though there are only four ten minute slots in the hour, you must choose eight possible mentors with whom to chat), and we will get back to you before the event with your list of appointments. The mentors will be divided up alphabetically and several will be stationed in each room. After each 10 minute segment, mentors will remain in their seats and you will go to your next appointment.
Yea, it's a little goofy, but it's supposed to be fun! The point of the brief meetings is to trade ideas and information, enough to determine whether you think the mentor might be able to help you in whatever it is you want to achieve. We will provide you with calling cards and we've reminded mentors to bring a stack of business cards.
Not to worry, if you meet someone you want to talk with more, directly after the MeetUp all you need do is head upstairs to Vollum Lounge for the WW13 Post Panel Party wherein you may talk at length. Pretty phine, eh?
Working Weekend Profiles
Please pick your first EIGHT choices in rank order. We will make every effort to match you with the people you want to talk with at the event. Do not choose the same person multiple times, please. If you don't have the opportunity to talk with a person you choose during MeetUp, we encourage you to reach out to that person and make a time to talk during the Weekend. Please submit your MeetUp choices by 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 29. We will let you know your appointments by day's end on Thursday, January 31.
