Bring Your Kickstarter Project to Life, a workshop by Stephanie Pereira
Monday, September, 17, 7 to 9p.m.
Disjecta: 8371 North Interstate Avenue

SPECIAL NOTE: Elizabeth Spavento is an '11 Reed graduate, sponsor of this event, and an independent curator.

Portland, Oregon – Join independent curator, Elizabeth Spavento, and Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in welcoming Kickstarter's Art Program Director Stephanie Pereira for a free workshop on how to bring your Kickstarter project to life.

Kickstarter provides a virtual platform in which artists can find the funding needed to create their best work and engage new audiences. During this hour-long workshop, participants will take a close look at a few successful projects from the Portland area and beyond including Hybrid Cosmology, Disjecta’s own successful Kickstarter project. Learn how to structure a campaign, what kind of rewards work best, how to spread the word, and other helpful tips.

Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects. Every week, tens of thousands of people pledge millions of dollars to projects from the worlds of music, film, art, technology, design, games, fashion, food, publishing, and other creative fields. Since April 2009, more than two million people have pledged more than $300 million to projects by creators who always maintain full ownership and complete creative control of their work.

Disjecta Contemporary Art Center aspires to present forward-thinking work from visual and performing artists. Dynamic programs showcase new work and fuel collaborations between artists, curators, and viewers that impact and intervene in the larger contemporary arts dialogue. Disjecta provides a professional platform in which artists can realize their best work and engage new audiences.

Maximum capacity for this workshop is 150. There will be a one-hour social following the presentation. Light snacks will be provided, and beverages can be purchased at the bar.
