Deadline to Apply: Opportunities Grant
Wednesday, October 10, by 4:00 p.m.
Proposal Overview
The purpose of this program is to provide support to undergraduate
students in pursuit of academically valuable and pertinent
opportunities that arise. These opportunities need not be part of a
student's curricular program but should be academically respectable.
Examples of relevant activities include professional conference
attendance and presentation, attendance at uniquely significant art or
theatre exhibitions, and acquisition of an academic resource. Support
can be given up to $1,500. Only proposals from students in good
academic standing at the College will be considered. For seniors who
wish to present thesis research at conferences taking place shortly
after graduation, applications must be submitted prior to the end of
his/her senior year.
Proposal Process
The application process consists of completing an Opportunity Grant
Application and Budget Form (download - see
http://www.reed.edu/academic/studentgrants/oppgrants.html)
and
preparing a brief one-page description of the proposed activity. These
documents should be submitted electronically to Joan Meyer at
jmeyer@reed.edu. You must arrange
for a faculty sponsor to submit a
letter of recommendation on your behalf. He or she must also review and
approve the application prior to submission. For more information on
eligibility, please contact Joan Meyer (jmeyer@reed.edu)
or the chair
of the Undergraduate Research Committee, Paul J. Currie
(pcurrie@reed.edu).
Proposals will be accepted at all times on a funds-available, rolling
basis.
