We'll be discussing the educational tracks and career paths available in the field. OHSU offers three tracks within our Biomedical Informatics program:

 

* Bioinformatics and Computational Biology - Students learn to apply the techniques of informatics, computer science, and statistics to address problems in genomics and biology generally. 
* Clinical Informatics - Students develop and implement systems for acquisition and use of information technology to improve health care, individual health clinical and translational research, and public health.

* Health Information Management - Students gain knowledge and skills in the application of information technology (IT) and Health Information Management to healthcare. The HIM program is CAHIIM-accredited and allows graduates to sit for the RHIA certification exam. 

OHSU's Biomedical Informatics is a nationally renowned program that has graduated over 350 professionals and leaders in this emerging field. Founded in 1996, we've been a leader in the area of informatics education for over 15 years. Our faculty include highly regarded published experts in the field, including WilliamHersh, Joan Ash, Shannon McWeeney, and David Dorr, just to name a few. 

OHSU faculty members, alumni and staff will be available to meet with students and answer questions. In addition, a stimulating panel discussion will provide an in-depth look at the student experience in our program.
