OHSU Bioinformatics Open House

OHSU Bioinformatics Open House
11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30
OHSU BICC Gallery, 1st Floor
Registration required

If your students are interested in the exciting new field applying information technology to heath care or biomedical research, they won't want to miss our open house on Saturday, October 30. 2010 at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) campus, in Portland, Oregon.

We'll be discussing the educational tracks and career paths available in the field that has received a large infusion of government grants from the new Healthcare Initiative in order to achieve the vision of electronic health records for all medical institutions by 2015.

There are two main branches in this field and OHSU offers tracks within our larger program in both:

* Bioinformatics and Computational Biology - Students learn how to apply computational techniques to advance research and human health to genomics and molecular biology.

* Clinical Informatics - Students develop and implement systems for acquisition and use of information technology to improve health care, individual health and public health.

Please let your faculty members and students know about this opportunity to learn about the emerging field of biomedical informatics.

OHSU's Biomedical Informatics is a highly respected program that has graduated over 270 professionals and leaders in this emerging field. Founded in 1996 we've been a leader in the area of informatics education for one and a half decades. Our faculty include highly regarded published experts in the industry including William R. Hersh, Joan Ash, Shannon McWeeney, and David Dorr, just to name a few.

OHSU faculty members, alumni and staff will be available to meet with students and answer questions. In addition, a stimulating panel discussion will provide an in-depth look at the student experience in our program.
