Schmoozing Is Good for Your Brain
Schmoozing Is Good for Your Brain*
12 noon - 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 2
Gray Lounge and Kaul Auditorium
RSVP no later than 5 p.m. Friday, September 24
Your first networking, schmoozing opportunity for the new school year. This year, the event is in conjunction with the fall Trustees meeting and Reed Alumni Volunteer weekend, where alumni in leadership from all over the country come back to campus. If you are a current student or new alumni, don't miss this key opportunity to make contacts with alumni from far and near.
Light refreshments will be served. We will e-mail a profile document that compiles bios of participating alumni to those who RSVP by Monday, September 27. THIS IS AN EVENT THAT REQUIRES AN RSVP. Please send e-mail no later than Friday, September 24, 5 p.m. to career.services@reed.edu, to reserve your spot! To learn more about schmoozing and informational interviewing, or to make a plan for getting the most out of this event, e-mail career.services@reed.edu to schedule an appointment. Please note: attire for this event is business casual.
Nervous to network? Shaky on your schmooze? Not to worry, just plan to attend any (or all!) of our schmooze workshops from 4:10-5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, September 27-30 in Greywood. (No RSVP necessary for the schmooze training. Just join us when you are able.)

researchers say they've found that shooting the bull with friends has
measurable benefits for the brain, keeping it sharp in later life.
"Most advice for preserving and enhancing mental function emphasizes
intellectual activities such as reading, doing crossword puzzles, and
learning how to use a computer," says the lead researcher. "But my
research suggests that just getting together and chatting with friends
and family may also be effective."
