Finance Breakfast
Tuesday, November 2
8:15-9:30 a.m., Aspen Conference Room
RSVP REQUIRED, see below

If you are interested in business and finance careers, join Reed alumni Tony Fisher '80, Econ, who after retiring from investment banking in the municipal division of UBS is now a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney; Ben Taylor '01, Econ, consultant with R.V. Kuhns; Greg Agamalian '05, Econ, a broker with M Securities; and Blake Goud '03, Econ, chief compliance officer at Marquam Capital, for breakfast. Take part in a wide-ranging discussion about paths taken and opportunities our guests  see in the field.

Investment banking, asset management, securities trading, and other financial sector jobs are among the most highly prized entry-level opportunities for graduating students. They also are the best tickets to the best MBA programs. To compete for these opportunities requires quite a bit of preparation, both in terms of knowledge of the industry and actual experiences.  Top firms are especially interested in liberal arts students but they also expect certain types of undergraduate experiences (e.g., leadership, internship, quantitative skills development). The recruitment cycle for full-time, entry level jobs typically has an early fall deadline for students who are graduating the following May. For many internships in finance, the time to apply is November to January. This is an opportunity for you to learn more and get an earlier start on your preparedness so that you can meet the September deadline during your senior year.  (Seniors are also invited to attend).

RSVP required, and this is a short turn around with limited seating, so please drop us a note no later than 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27 to save your spot.
