Crafting a Statement of Purpose

Crafting a Statement of Purpose
4:15-6 p.m. Monday, April 5, Eliot 314

Whatever your year at Reed, use your time this summer and the tools from this interactive workshop to draft a statement of purpose useful for graduate and professional school admissions, fellowships and awards competitions (Watson and Fulbright, for example), internship and job applications, and even (possibly) your thesis proposal.

As a Truman and Rhodes scholar and a member of Rhodes selection committees, Ken Brashier, professor of religion and humanities, will provide general guidance to the process of expressing your purpose and passion to selection committees.

(Co-sponsored by the Writing Improvement Committee, Fellowships & Awards Committee, Academic Support Services, and Career Services)
