What is the Diversity and Explorations Program?
Harvard Divinity School's Diversity and Explorations Program is an initiative intended to interest students underrepresented in the graduate study of religion, with a particular focus on African American, Latino/a, Asian American, and Native American students. The program invites applications from talented undergraduates whose background and experiences suggest a commitment to diversity and social justice issues as well as an interest in ministry, scholarship, or professional careers that are well served by the study of religion, theology, or ethics.
Highlights of the 2009 program include:
* Panels on graduate school funding, standardized tests, faith and social justice, careers in ministry and professions, preparing for doctoral studies, and more.
* HDS Community Tea.
* Dinner featuring a speaker from the 2008 Diversity and Explorations program.
* Welcome Dinner featuring HDS faculty speaker, Davíd Carrasco, Neil L. Rudenstine Professor of the Study of Latin America, with a joint appointment with the Department of Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
* Informal meals with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
* Lunch with invited guests from other seminaries and divinity schools.
* Opportunity to meet with representatives from Harvard University’s graduate and professional programs.
