PolitiCorps Tabling and Info Session
PolitiCorps (and the Bus Project) Tabling and Info Session
Thursday, October 29 2009
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., commons; 1 - 2 p.m., Vollum 126
PolitiCorps is an intensive ten week political organizing bootcamp. It is designed by the young leaders of the Bus Project -- a nationally recognized (Portland-based) organization that has been getting young people involved in politics since 2002. The program brings together 24 students for a summer of high impact service, training, and life changin' conversations. Hands-on democracy is our specialty. That means that PolitiCorps is a place where you learn... and do.
Fellows spend the first weeks of the program learning the nuts and bolts of effective people-powered politics. During that process, Fellows design their own 8 week mini campaign. Past groups have done massive things: Registered 10,000 voters, knocked on 15,000 doors to support marriage equality, signed up Oregon children for health care, and talked to 20,000 Oregonians about progressive candidates.
We're going to be at Reed on October 29 from 11:30a-12:45 p.m. tabling in the Commons and then presenting an info session in Vollum at 1 p.m. Come meet us and say hello, nominate yourself (or someone you know) for PolitiCorps, and hear about an awesome national program in Reed's backyard.
We seek 24 talented young leaders for PolitiCorps 2010. You could be one of them!
