International students are invited to lunch with Reed alumnus Venky Ganesan, who graduated from Reed with a degree in mathematics, economics, and computer science in '96. Venky started his career as a Program Manager at Microsoft’s Encarta
Group. He worked at McKinsey & Company’s Los Angeles and
Johannesburg offices. As vice president of JAFCO Ventures, he
co-founded Trigo Technologies, where he later served as chief operating
officer. Venky helped to build Trigo into the market leader in the
product information management area. The company was acquired by IBM
in 2004. He also has a BS in Computer Science from Caltech from 1996.
He is a volunteer for the Reed admission office.
As a Managing Director of Globespan, Venky sources new investment opportunities, evaluates and negotiates investments, and serves on the boards of portfolio companies. Based in Palo Alto, he focuses on investments in Software and Internet/Infrastructure start-ups. Venky, a successful entrepreneur himself, shares his intense focus on results, strategic market view, and technical expertise to help the firm's portfolio companies achieve market leadership.
