Overwhelming response has filled the slots for the 2009 Etiquette Dinner. Thank you for your interest!

Practice your fine dining skills, learn about workplace etiquette, and enjoy table conversation with alumni, staff and faculty. During a four-course meal, you will be guided through the etiquette of fine dining. Learning the nuances of such an event is an excellent investment of your time and attention. Let your attire for the evening reflect what you would wear if your employer made a substantial investment to buy tickets for a charity event and invited you to join. Dress to impress! (And, call on us if that worries you. We'll help you figure it out!) 



Lois Hobbs of Social Sciences and Humanities and Lena Lencek, Professor of Russian and Humanities have been instrumental in the creation and delivery of this event, honoring Reed Seniors, since its inception in the late 90s.  We are delighted that they will be joining us again this year.

Molly Watson ‘92 is returning to campus for her fourth year to present at the dinner.  We are grateful for her ongoing interest and contribution.  Before becoming a food writer, she  earned a Ph.D. in Modern European History at Stanford University by reading scandalous novels, Parisian tabloids, and police records and writing about French whores at the turn-of-the-last-century. While she escaped from academia, she can’t seem to shake her love of specific times and places, or curb her desire to see how different (and yet the same!) they all are from one another. She happily now satisfies her curiosity through food and wine instead of old books and dusty archives.

 She has been a freelance writer, editor, and cooking instructor in the Bay Area for several years.  As contributing editor and, until recently, food writer at Sunset magazine, she scouts and develops stories about food products, producers, artisans, locations, and chefs throughout the western states.  She develops and writes content for the "Guide to Local Foods" at About.com.  She has appeared on many local T.V. and radio shows, including KFOG's Morning Show in San Francisco, “The Food Guy and Marcy” in Santa Rosa, CA, and "Philosophy Talk" on KALW (and KOPB in Portland). Her work has also appeared in many publications, including The New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle.
