From Mr. Halpern's IRIS alumni profile: "I am a partner helping run a private equity fund that makes control investments in distressed middle market companies in a wide range of industries throughout North America. My involvement includes sourcing, underwriting, structuring, negotiating and monitoring investments as well as supervision and development of the investment team.
Previously, this business provided crisis management, turnaround consulting and one-off investments in the same space. Before joining Versa, I practiced law representing middle market companies in chapter 11 reorganizations. Before law school, I worked and consulted in the research, planning and evaluation field.
Description of Reed experience: I graduated with a joint degree in philosophy and psychology--my thesis applied rational linguistic methods to explore the application of continental philosophical approaches to experimental social psychology. It went pretty quickly after I hauled myself out of the pool room."
