Deadline to Apply: Reed Student Scholarships to the Tin House Summer Writers Workshop ’13
Applications due to Karen Bondaruk, English Department, Vollum 320 by Friday, May 10
The Tin House Summer Writer’s Workshop, held on the Reed College campus, is a week long (July 14–21) intensive program of workshops, seminars, panels, and readings led by the editors of Tin House magazine and Tin House books and their guests—prominent contemporary American writers of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The program combines morning workshops with afternoon craft seminars and career panels. Evenings are reserved for author readings and revelry.
Procedure to apply for the Reed student scholarships to attend the Tin House Summer Writers Workshop ’13 are as follows:
By Friday, May 10, please submit the following to Karen Bondaruk, English department, Vollum 320:
1) A no-more-than-10-page sample of your creative writing.
2) A no-more-than-one-page letter explaining why you want to come to the workshop and what you hope to gain from it.
N.B.: Please (please!) no recommendations. They will be ignored, crumpled into rough-edged spheres and casually tossed into wastebaskets. N.B.2: A team of Tin House minds will assess these submissions and, collectively, make the decision, which will be unanimous and unimpeachable.
