Join Bay Area alumni for a unique career development event on Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m. Don Asher '83, an expert on career building and higher education, will speak on the ever-timely topic "Cracking the Hidden Job Market." With a philosophy-religion degree from Reed and a master's in human resources/organization development, Don comfortably spans the diverse worlds of arts and humanities as well as business (http://www.donaldasher.com/ ).

Whether you're in the job market now or worried the economy or fate might send you there in the future, Don's latest research offers insight and techniques that will change the way you think about and approach a job search.  Don's expertise on resumés, promotion, and employment is vital info for recent grads, seasoned executives/academics, and those somewhere in between.

These events have been quite successful in other chapters (NYC, Chicago, Seattle). When Don presented this talk to the Southern California chapter, recent grads as well as more seasoned alumni gave his presentation rave reviews:

"I really enjoyed this event. It was worth the  two hour drive. The presentation is short, but extremely helpful. He explains why you never get any call backs or interviews from job postings, how to edit your resume, and work your contacts. I'm switching fields and Asher's enthusiasm helped me figure out what to do next. Go."
