Alumni Showcase and Idea Networking: Featuring Dan Wolf, ‘82
Sunday March 6th, 1 to 4pm
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP
333 South Grand Avenue, 53rd Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90071-3197
RSVP here no later than Monday, February 28
Dan Wolf ‘82 will open the event with an informal presentation of some entrepreneurial projects that he has been working on with a consortium of other thinkers. These include a landmine-clearing method and project, an invention for detecting traveling oil slicks at sea, a language-free appropriate technology design website, and a global public health initiative.
Dan will provide an overview of each project along with the key intellectual challenges that he has encountered and then invite the group to brainstorm about potential solutions or satellite ideas. The format with be informal, interactive and followed by socializing, idea networking, and gourmet munchies. We have a lovely setting hosted by Hatef Behnia, ’75!
The concept of “idea networking” is to encourage the exchange of ideas that go beyond what each of us does (will do, or did) for a living to include all those things about which we are passionate!
Dan is a Harvard-trained lawyer and Fulbright scholar in political science who has been involved in a wide range of academic and entrepreneurial activities. For example, he helped develop a simple system to quickly reunite separated individuals after disasters at a cost of about $1/person, he has created a non-profit organization, a university institute, a green technology trade association, and technology companies in landmine clearing and counter-bomb robotics. He is presently organizing a company to bring in money for infrastructure projects in developing countries by leveraging their bonds against private investor funds, and is developing a pilot landmine clearing project in Afghanistan.
If you have questions about the event that do not involve the RSVP process or the submission of the idea profile, please contact Amy Lindsay '81, Steering Committee Chair, SoCal Chapter Reed Alumni Association amylindsayphd@yahoo.com
