Amber A. Hollister '99, political science. I currently serve as the Oregon State Bar's deputy general counsel. I previously served as Governor Ted Kulongoski's deputy general counsel and worked as a litigation associate in Perkins Coie LLP's Portland office. Prior to entering private practice, I clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Robert H. Whaley and externed for Ninth Circuit Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain. I earned my J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law. When not practicing law, I enjoy spending time with my family and our geriatric dog, playing the viola, and paddling on the Willamette River.
Sue Porter '68, general literature. I came to Reed from Southern California in 1964. I dropped out after my freshman year and spent a year in France, then returned and graduated with my class in 1968 with a BA in English. From 1969-72 I was at UC Berkeley where I received a MA in Art History. I married, had a son, returned to Portland and, after finding my other degrees worthless for obtaining gainful employment, I entered the evening program at Lewis & Clark Law school when my son was three years old and while working full-time days in law offices. I graduated in 1980 and spent 5 years in the litigation department of a Portland firm after which I started a mediation business, US Arbitration & Mediation of Oregon. It became and remains the largest provider of Alternative Dispute services in Oregon and SW Washington and is currently being managed by my son who became a lawyer. I spend most of my time now on our cattle ranch in Eastern Oregon and traveling.
Peter Preston '77, international studies. For the past ten years I have been a partner in the law firm –Preston, Bunnell & Flynn. Prior to that I was the managing partner in Pozzi Wilson, at the time the largest exclusively plaintiff’s personal injury firm on the west coast. I started with that firm in 1981 as a clerk and as an associate in 1982. My practice is limited to plaintiff’s personal injury with an emphasis on maritime and asbestos injury victims. I am a member of the Oregon Association of Trial Lawyers , American Association for Justice and recently elected to The American Board of Trial Advocates. After Reed I took some time before attending The University of Tennessee Law School and graduated in 1981.
