Coro is looking for outstanding applicants for the 2011-2012 Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs. We seek motivated candidates from all disciplines and careers, accomplished individuals who have demonstrated a distinct aptitude for leadership and commitment to public affairs. Coro's mission is to strengthen the democratic system of self-governance by preparing individuals who, as citizens and leaders, will act constructively and competently to strengthen and improve their communities and society as a whole. Tuition for the Fellows Program at most centers is $3,500. Tuition scholarship funding is available. Further information is available on the Coro website.
Founded in 1947, the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs is a nine-month, full-time, graduate-level program that introduces participants to all aspects of public affairs. The Program combines experiential learning, close interaction with key decision-makers, and development in analytical, group governance, and communication skills. Unconventional by traditional academic standards, the Coro Fellows Program is rigorous and demanding. The Fellows Program is offered in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis.
Monthly stipends and financial aid are available based on documented financial need.
EligibilityBachelor's degree is required. Post-graduate academic study is also desirable.
Selection CriteriaCoro seeks bright, self-motivated individuals with a commitment to ethical and effective leadership. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required and post-graduate academic study or work is encouraged. Fellows come from all academic disciplines, careers, and racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Based on a review of applications, Coro will invite finalists to attend Selection Day in March. Sixty four Fellows are selected and will be placed in one of five Coro Centers in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, or St. Louis.
