I would love to connect with students. In addition or instead of attending the Schmooze, I am available for one:one meetings during the weekend. Drop me an email and we'll arrange a time to meet. I arrive on Thursday.
How did you get where you are? (e.g., education, brief work history, mentors)
In the five years since I graduated from Reed, I've worked in a library, a law firm, and a religious non-profit. I spent several years in high school and through college working in a children's library, so library school was a natural next step after Reed. I loved getting my MLIS, but found the market really tough. Working for a non-profit has been an excellent experience, one I highly recommend.
What lessons have you learned along the way that you'd like to pass on to current Reed students?
It's important to explore your options; I also recommend taking a little bit of time off before grad school to make sure it's really what you want to do.
What else should students know about you? (e.g., volunteer engagement, avocations, interests)
I volunteer for Reed in several capacities, and would love to talk to them about staying engaged with the college after graduation.
