Sophomore math major Makana Castillo-Martin '18 received a Critical Language Scholarship to study Japanese in an intensive summer language immersion program in Japan this summer. She plans to improve her language and cross cultural skills with the ultimate goal of working in the arena of natural language processing and cutting edge digital translation.
