ROME, Reed’s fall program invites a highly qualified group of high school seniors from around the US to campus for a three-day, two-night exploration of Reed and the City of Portland. ROME students stay in residence halls with current students and follow a program of classroom visits and student-professor engagement opportunities. Just ten minutes from downtown Portland, Reed also arranges trips to explore highlights of the city. All travel is arranged and paid for by the college (including flights to and from Portland). Take a look at a sample schedule from 2014.
Domestic high school seniors from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds (African-American, Asian-American, Latino-American, Middle-Eastern American, and Pacific Islander backgrounds) who are also US citizens or permanent residents are eligible. There is no fee to apply for ROME. Priority is given to students who have not yet visited Reed. We encourage students and families to join our mailing list so they don’t miss out on details about ROME and Reed. If you have any questions, please contact the Multicultural Outreach Coordinators, Wayne Kim and John Perkins at 800/547.4750 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
