This year's Student Conference on United States Affairs (SCUSA) at West Point will be held Wed, Nov 1st through Sat, Nov 4th.
This year's theme: The Politics of the Forgotten and the Aggrieved: Remaking the World Order?
Applications are due to Emily Hebbron on Monday, September 25, 2017 at noon. The SCUSA committee headed by Czar Alex Montgomery will select the best candidate and notifications will be sent out no later than Friday, September 29, 2017.
Overview: SCUSA is a unique opportunity for Reed students to interact with students from other colleges, and students at the military academy at West Point. The purpose of the conference is to give college students the chance to meet peers from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, and to collectively discuss pressing issues of national importance. The Student Conference on U.S. Affairs is a four-day conference that brings together hundreds of students and dozens of scholars and policy experts from the United States and abroad. It is the largest conference of its kind. Approximately 250 undergraduates from 150 universities in the U.S. and abroad attend the conference. The department and West Point cover attendance, travel, and lodging (though the attending student is responsible for any additional/outside expenses).
