Sophomore Summit

Sophomore Summit is a free half-day program for second year students that takes place at the start of fall semester. The 2017 Sophomore Summit will take place on Saturday, September 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Vollum Lounge.

RSVP is strongly encouraged: https://tinyurl.com/SophomoreSummit17

Lunch will be available in Vollum Lounge beginning at 11:30 AM, and the Summit starts at noon. The program will begin with lunch and a presentation by Cameron Whitten about finding your purpose and passion. Cameron is civic entrepreneur, citizen journalist, and political figure living in Portland. Cameron has run for political office, organized a 55 day hunger strike for housing justice, and has had visible leadership with prominent political movements such as Occupy Portland, Right 2 Dream Too, and Portland’s Resistance.

Following lunch, students can choose between concurrent 40 minute workshops, led by faculty and staff. These workshops are designed to equip students with skills that are critical to success in the sophomore year. Summit topics for this year include:

- Major Exploration and Finding Your Purpose
- Fellowships and Grants
- Networking
- Office Hours and Communicating with Faculty
- Time Management and Self Care

After the workshops, the program will conclude with a panel discussion with alumni, reflecting on their experiences as students at Reed and their career journeys so far.

Raffle prizes, including gift cards, will be given out throughout the day. Must be present to win!
