Campus Announcements

There are a number of construction projects that will impact the community on campus over the summer. While the improvements are taking place, you may have to make special accommodations.

Please read the following information carefully so you can plan accordingly.

We appreciate your patience as we make important enhancements to the campus.

Commons:  

What: We will make several enhancements to Commons to improve your overall dining experience. We thank Bon Appetit for their major funding contributions, making the improvements possible. Enhancements include: 

• Addition of a fourth cash register at the servery to reduce backup during peak hours

• New “grab and go” metro market with separate register to facilitate quick purchases

• New cork floors to reduce noise

• New dining furniture to provide more seating options

• New kitchen equipment

• Relocation of the bakery

• Office changes for select Bon Appetit staff

When: Construction will take place May 16 through August 1. IMPORTANT: During this time all dining will take place under a tent in the Quad. 

Eliot Circle: 

What: The main water supply line that runs in front of Vollum and behind Eliot will be replaced.

When: The construction will take a week and will be scheduled sometime in June after Reunions.

Chapel:

What: We will improve the overall lighting, install a new projector and screen, refinish the stage floor, replace the carpet, and add seat cushions and curtains.

When: Construction will take place throughout the summer. 

Eliot Hall: 

What: The concrete and stone at the main south side entrance will be replaced.

When: Work will begin immediately after Reunions.   

Admission entrance: 

What: The landing at the bottom of the Chapel stairs outside of Admission is going to be raised to eliminate a hazardous step at the doorway.

When: Work will begin immediately after Reunions.  

Cross Canyon residence hall: 

What: Woodbridge and Chittick will be renovated. The center portion of the lower North lot will be used for staging materials.

When: Construction will start right after Commencement and continue throughout the summer.

PAB 104/105:

What: We will remove the dividing wall and convert the area into a large classroom. 

When: Sometime for approximately a two week period in July. 

Psychology 105 auditorium and psychology hallway: 

What: New seats, marker boards, projections screen, lighting, and carpet will be installed in the auditorium. The hallways of the entire building will be recarpeted.

When: Throughout summer.

Chemistry:

What:  Lab remodel.

When: Throughout summer.
