Denim Day for sexual-assault awareness on April 26

Denim Day is Wednesday, April 26, and the sexual-assault prevention and response (SAPR) advocates invite you to wear jeans and/or one of the denim pins they’ll have available in Commons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (donations in exchange for pins will benefit the local non-profit Call to Safety).

Denim Day is an international event started after a rape conviction was overturned in 1998 by (male) appeal judges because “it is a fact of common experience that it is nearly impossible to slip off tight jeans even partly without the active collaboration of the person who is wearing them.”
