UPDATE: CAMPUS CLOSURE INFORMATION

INCLEMENT WEATHER COMMUNICATION UPDATED 10:30 A.M. ON TUESDAY, JAN 17

Dear Reed Community,

Today, January 17, the college is closed due to emergency weather conditions.  Essential services, including Commons, will be in place to support the students, faculty, and staff on campus and programs in operation. Individual offices will make arrangements as they deem appropriate to service the college.

  • Commons is open.
  • The bookstore is planning to be open until 2 p.m. Homer's Hut is planning to be open until midnight.
  • Paideia classes for today are being rescheduled.
  • The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lecture with Precious Davis has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 18.
  • The faculty and staff Welcome to the New Semester event has been rescheduled for Friday.

Please be in touch with your supervisor if your position is essential today because its responsibilities include non-deferrable services that must be performed despite this emergency closure. You may be asked to work on-campus or via remote access.

Getting to and around campus may be a challenge during inclement weather. The Tri-Met website includes information on snow routes for those who use public transportation.

Questions?
Staff should direct any questions to their supervisor. Additionally, more information can be found in the inclement weather section on HR's website.

The decision to stay open, delay, or close affects many people and we appreciate everyone's flexibility during these extraordinary weather conditions for Portland.
