Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture: Precious Davis

RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER: PLEASE JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY AT 6 P.M. IN THE CHAPEL.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lecture with Precious Davis, "Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere," on Tuesday, January 17, 6-7 p.m., Eliot chapel. Join students, faculty, staff, and community members in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with our annual week of service, learning, and action.

Our keynote speaker this year is Precious Davis. Precious Davis is lauded nationally as an award winning diversity professional, social justice facilitator, and educator. Davis finds deep meaning in engaging individuals in conversations surrounding bias, bigotry, and prejudice in their communities on the basis and belief that humans can coexist with one another positively through the embracing of each other’s differences and the celebrating of each others human diversity.

Precious will be giving a lecture titled "Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere."

The great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Now more than ever we must devise new structures, mantras and modes of being in order to topple patriarchy and white supremacy while forming a resounding response to anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. Through audacious authenticity each and every one of us has the power to reach those within our sphere of influence. Precious challenges us all to examine our internalized bias regarding ability, faith, class, sexual orientation, race and appearance in order to create critical intersectional dialogue, positive self awareness, and the fostering of true solidarity.
