Staffing changes at the library

The cast of characters is changing at the library!  Here are the changes that have happened or will happen soon:

Rose Carlson, Shared ILS Librarian, left us to become Library Web Analyst at Portland Community College.  Rose came to Reed in 2013 and played an instrumental role in the library system migration in 2014.  We look forward to continuing to work with Rose in the Orbis Cascade Alliance.  Rose’s last day at Reed was July 22.

Xan Arch will become Dean of the Library at University of Portland later this month.  Xan came to Reed in 2010 as Collection Development Librarian and was appointed to the newly created position of Director of Collection Services in 2012.  Xan served as liaison to many language departments and used her expertise in management of licensed-electronic resources to bring about a high level of coordination between traditional collections, ebooks, and ejournals at the library.  Xan’s last day at Reed was August 1.  A search to fill this vacancy will begin very soon.

Annie Downey has been promoted to the newly created position of Associate College Librarian & Director of Research Services.  In addition to her current duties, Annie will lead assessment and budget planning activities and will represent the library in my absence.  Annie came to Reed in 2012 from the University of North Texas and completed her Ph.D. in higher education in 2014.

Andrea Bornstein will retire after 21 years from her position as Assistant to the College Librarian on September 2.  Andrea has been an indispensible member of the library staff, serving as office manager, making sure Hauser is attractive and functional, and keeping an eagle eye on library budgets and spending.   We wish her a relaxing and wonderful retirement.

And lastly, a new Assistant to the College Librarian is waiting in the wings.  Lyn-Mara Eggleston will begin work at Reed on August 22.  Lyn-Mara comes to us from Clark College where she has held a series of increasingly responsible positions in admissions and enrollment services.  Prior to Clark, Lyn-Mara was facilities administrative assistant at Willamette Dental in Vancouver.  She is a graduate of The Evergreen State College and holds a certificate of news and radio broadcasting from the New England School of Communications.
