E.O. Hoppé: public symposium on modernism and portraiture

In conjunction with the current Cooley Gallery exhibition E.O. Hoppé: Studio, Society, and Street Photography, 1909–1945, Jay Dickson, professor of English, and Stephanie Snyder, Cooley Gallery curator, have organized a symposium on portraiture, modernist literature, the cultural politics of dance, and the birth of fashion photography. Speakers include Maria DiBattista, professor of English, Princeton University; Storm Tharp, artist; Kohle Yohannan, cultural historian and curator; and Rishona Zimring, professor of English, Lewis & Clark College. The symposium is generously supported by the Reed College Division of Literature and Languages and the Eddings Fund.
