Yoga workshop for faculty, staff and students: Gravity & Grace; The Power of Surrender & Intuitive Response with Peter Sterios

Join the Wellness Committee and the Athletics, Fitness, and Outdoor Programs department for a workshop with well-known yoga instructor Peter Sterios (www.petersterios.com). Description: Contemporary life and our reactions to it often create contraction in our physical and psychological bodies. Over time, if awareness of one’s reactions is lacking, the contraction becomes ingrained, and manifests as resistance, often limiting mobility, and eventually producing chronic pain. Hatha yoga is an effective tool for meeting resistance in our bodies and thoughts in a productive way. Your approach to the practice of yoga determines the quality it can bring to your life. With light-handed guidance, this workshop will take you through a process of discovery to where you hold sub-conscious tension in the body, and through a variety of basic yoga poses and breathing exercises, learn to see resistance as a gift for heightening attention where awareness is lacking, and creating power and ease within one’s efforts. Instruction during the class will be progressive (step-by-step) in nature and appropriate for all levels.
