TriMet Bus Service Changes Proposed

We learned from Jennifer Koozer, TriMet community affairs representative for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project, that TriMet is considering bus service changes, to complement the MAX Orange Line (Portland-Milwaukie light rail) service, beginning in September 2015. A proposal, which is based on feedback the company received this past winter, may be viewed here.

"Most relevant to Reed College is the proposal to maintain existing line 19 service," says Koozer. "Our starting assumption had been that lines 9, 17, and 19 would move from Ross Island Bridge to the new Tilikum Crossing, but many riders had concerns about losing service near Ross Island Bridge. So, our current proposal is to keep line 19 on its existing route. Line 19 would connect with MAX at the SE Bybee Blvd Station (with bus stops in pullouts outside the travel lanes, and stairs and elevators on both sides of the bridge), and follow its existing route into downtown Portland."

An open house related to the proposal will be Wednesday, July 23, 5–6:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart Villa, 3925 SE Milwaukie Ave. Read more about other developments for southeast Portland.
