Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reunions all about?
Reunions is the largest alumni event held by Reed each year. Reunions are about reconnecting with old friends and making new friends. About 900 alumni, spouses, friends, and children are expected to attend, June 3-8, 2008.

What if it is not my milestone reunion year?
Alumni who are not part of a reunion-year class but who would like to attend are welcome to do so. Please register for the reunion of the class closest to your own class year. In addition to the milestone reunions, there will also be reunions for: Collegium Musicum, KRRC DJs, nuclear reactor workers, psychology majors.

When/how do I register?
A complete brochure will be in the Reed magazine in mid-February and the same information appears on this website. Register online or fill out the registration form and return it with payment postmarked by May 12, 2008.  The prompt submission of your registration materials will ensure that you receive housing in the dormitories and reserved spaces at meals and other events. Full payment is necessary to guarantee your reservation.

Please help us get the word out that registering early is important so that we can do our best to plan the many Reunions activities. When it comes to preparing food, lodging, and events, having an accurate estimate is invaluable.

How much does it cost?
The per-person fee varies depending on how many events you attend. Fees help cover the cost of meals, drinks, entertainment, registration materials, etc. While we try to keep the cost down as much as possible, the expenses — for more than 900 people — must be covered.

When/where should I plan to arrive on campus?
Your first stop should be Reunions Central in the Student Union (please check in even if you are not staying on campus). Upon arrival, alumni should check in to receive a nametag, map, a final schedule, and other late-breaking information. If you are staying in the dormitories for the weekend, you will also receive your room key and housing assignment. Alumni College participants will also receive their conference assignment. Please note that dorm rooms will not be available for check in before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3.

Alumni arriving after hours will need to pick up room keys at the Community Safety switchboard in the 28 West building at 5436 SE 28th Avenue. Reunions Central hours will be Tuesday, 4–8 p.m., Wednesday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m., and Sunday, 8–11 a.m. Check out time for the dorms is by 11 a.m. on Sunday.

If you are arriving by taxi while Reunions Central is open, enter at the main campus entrance on Woodstock Blvd. to be dropped off at Eliot Circle. If you are arriving after hours to stay in a dorm, go to 28 West to get your room key and then have the taxi deliver you to the parking lot nearest your dorm. Read more about directions and parking.

Who else is coming?
To find out who has already signed up check out the “Who’s Coming” list within IRIS. Even if you think that nobody you know will be in attendance, you are bound to make new friends and have a great time!

Where will I stay?
Relive your student experience by staying in the dorms! Each room includes a single bed and linens, access to mixed-gender communal bathrooms, and breakfast. Please note that the dorms are not luxury hotels and lack soundproofing and air conditioning; they are not equipped with amenities such as fans, bedside lamps (except for Alumni College participants), ironing boards, alarm clocks, or toiletries. You may wish to bring a washcloth, extra towels, a small fan, or extra blanket. We make every effort to place alumni from the same decade in the same dorm, but encourage you to register early for best results. If you prefer to stay off campus, a list of area lodging can be found here.

Will I be able to use the Sports Center?
Yes. Times vary and will be available in your schedule booklet when you arrive on campus. You will need to have an alumni association ID card to use the facility; if you are in need of a card, contact Alumni & Parent Relations or visit Reunions Central.

Are children welcome?
Yes, children of all ages are welcome and we offer professional childcare on Friday and Saturday nights as well as Saturday afternoon carnival including, games, crafts, a giant slide, and more.

Are there accommodations for those with disabilities?
Yes, individuals with disabilities are encouraged to inform us in advance if they have any concerns or questions about accessibility on campus (see “special needs” on the registration form).

What should I bring?
Camera, scrapbooks, memorabilia, music, and anything else that will make the weekend enjoyable. If you're staying on campus, you may wish to bring a small reading lamp, alarm clock, small fan, and extra blanket or pillow if needed. June weather is unpredictable, so please pack accordingly. The sports center will be open throughout reunion week, so bring your swimsuit/racket/softball glove/Frisbee, etc.

Will there be Internet access?
There will be computers available for your use in central locations around campus. Alumni with laptops may use the telephone line in their dorm room to make a dial-up connection to their personal ISPs or connect to Reed's high-speed wireless network (this level of access will allow for general web surfing and use of web-hosted email). You may also take advantage of free wi-fi campus wide.

Will current and emeritus faculty members be there?
Yes, faculty and staff are invited to attend various meals and functions during the weekend.

Is parking available on campus?
Parking is available, but is limited. If you'll be staying in campus housing, it is recommended that you leave your car parked in one location and not worry about it for the weekend. Please note that cars are not allowed in the west parking lot (S.E. 28th Avenue) from 2 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, June 7, in order for staff to set up the Reunions fireworks. Cars in the west parking lot are exposed to potential damage from the fireworks, and may be towed to either the north or east parking lots—at the owner’s expense.

How can I contribute to my class gift?
Alumni are encouraged to donate to their class gift by visiting the Reunions Gift Program website.

What is the cancellation policy?
Refund requests can be accommodated up to 24 hours prior to the event date.
