In the tradition of...
and Moby Dick
comes the epic (and engaging) story of our unusual (and noble) community:
Comrades of the Quest: The Oral History of Reed College
As members of the Reed community, you are also part of our alumni book club. John Sheehy '82, the driving force behind and the editor of Comrades of the Quest, will be present to read excerpts, sign books, and hear your thoughts. Mike Teskey, from the alumni office, will have copies for sale (special promotional prices and Comrades t-shirts available too!). Light refreshments provided.
Saturday, October 27, at 10 a.m.
Home of Marcia Yaross '73 in Glendora, CA

If you're not able to attend this event, please see the full itinerary for the book tour.
Thirsty Third Thursday
Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies on Thirsty Third Thursda... or Sunday! Look for the pink table-top sign and the stuffed griffin at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.
If you're curious about where other Thirsty Third Thursday events are happening, check here.
The book group meets monthly, usually on the second Sunday. All alumni are welcome to read the book, and join the discussion. For further information or to rsvp, call or email Robert Hadley '53 at 310/391-1427.
August & September: Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
October 21: Swamplandia by Karen Russell
The Southern California chapter has recently set up an email listserve to arrange get-togethers with fellow Reedies on short notice. If you want to invite Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, please send an email to the list. This is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who have subscribed to the web page. There is an option to get the messages combined in one message daily or weekly; please subscribe at https://www.lists.reed.edu/mailman/listinfo/alumni-so-cal-network
If you have an idea for an event please contact the chapter. We'd love to hear your ideas.
