Reedies Eat Pizza: Monday, June 16, 2008


Join the fourth annual day of pizza, welcoming new graduates to your town as they join the Reedie diaspora. In 2007 we had pizza events in 13 cities — about 300 alumni attended in all. We hope to have even more this year.

From the westbound Santa Monica Freeway (I-10), take the Fourth Street exit and turn right. Turn left (west) on Broadway, and right (north) at Second St. The restaurant is at 1442 Second St., and a municipal parking garage (#6) is across the street. The garage charges $3.00 dollars for two hours of parking after 6 PM with a maximum of $7.00 dollars. There is also metered parking on the nearby streets, but it is costly and ticketing is heavy until after 10 PM. Please read signs carefully.

North Carolina:

    In the interest of attracting the most number of people, we've found a place that is approximately equidistant from Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. It's not glamorous, but it serves pizza and American beer, and it has a free group dining area, complete with red-checked vinyl tablecloths.

Sal's is very near the intersection of Hwy 54 and 55, in a mod-looking strip plaza. For some reason it doesn't show up in GoogleMaps—but MapQuest worked fine. It's approximately 12 miles from Durham/Duke, 14 miles from Raleigh and 10 miles from Chapel Hill, and is easily accessed from all of these places by main highways.

Once again, Rainier Chapter Reedies will celebrate another class of surviving graduates and welcome them into the ranks of happy alumni! We will gather at Piecora's Pizza in their Banquet Room, to eat pizza and salad with gusto, drink the libations at hand liberally, and generally have a good time. New graduates eat for free. If you graduated 2003-2007 (or you are a kid), just $5 for food, and if you are from a more venerable vintage, than $12 will be appreciated. Feel free to bring SO's and family. Drinks will be purchased communally, spontaneously, and joyously.
