Steering committee
The New York chapter has recently set up an email listserve to make it possible to arrange short notice get togethers with fellow Reedies. If you want to invite your fellow Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, send an email to the list. However, it is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who've gone to a web page to subscribe. This means you need to subscribe yourself so that you can see what other people want to do. There is an option to get all the messages combined in one message once a day or weekly. Subscribe yourself: https://www.lists.reed.edu/mailman/listinfo/alumni-ny-network
Take me out to the ball game
Remember the summer of 1989 when mom and dad took you to the county fair and you ate so many corn dogs you could barely move, and then you got on the "Spinning Spider" ride and turned green at the gills? Isn't it time for a dramatic re-enactment of that happy memory (minus mom and dad and getting sick on the Spider)? Come join the Reed alumni chapter at Coney Island for our annual summertime Brooklyn Cyclones game.
Come early for fun, sun, beer, corn dogs, roller-coaster rides, followed by baseball by the sea. It's all part of a great Brooklyn tradition AND the chance to take home a Carl Erskine bobblehead doll. What more can you ask for from a summer afternoon?
WHAT: Brooklyn Cyclones v. Tri-City Valley Cats
WHEN: Sunday, August 17, at 5 p.m.
COST: $7 (and the first 2,000 adults in attendance will get a limited-edition Carl Erskine bobblehead)
DIRECTIONS: By subway, it's a long ride, but the D, F, N and Q trains all get there in the end. Driving directions from the Belt Parkway are here: http://www.brooklyncyclones.com/keyspan/directions/
IF YOUSE WANNA COME: To reserve tickets, please send email to Will Swarts '92 and arrange for payment. No-shows will be charged. This event is family friendly! We'll need first and last names of ALL ticket holders, so their seats can be held at will call and picked up when you arrive at Keyspan Park. You must RSVP by July 29.
Thirsty Third Thursday
Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies
on Thirsty Third Thursday. Look for the pink table-top sign and the
stuffed griffin at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.
