Picnic on Governor's Island

Join alumni and friends for an afternoon of picnicking, fun, games, and nostalgia on Governor's Island. Some of us have tales of Centennial Reunions to share!

When: Sunday, August 7 starting at 1 p.m.
What: A potluck picnic
Where: Governor's Island. There are two ferries that go there: one leaving from Brooklyn and one from Manhattan. You can look up directions online.

Look for the reception committee at the top of the hill as you exit Manhattan Ferry. They will tell you how to find us on the island (if you haven't been there before, it is kind of large). Most likely we'll be at the south end of the parade grounds. If you still can't find us, call 503/913-9596.

What to bring: To avoid confusion and a repeat of the "all-chips-and-salsa" themed potluck, we've devised this easy system.

If your last name starts with A-L, bring something in this category:
· dessert
· fruit
· cheese

If your last name starts with M-Z, bring something in this category:
· cold entrees
· salads

Bring blankets, outdoor games, and bikes. We'll have a couple kickballs and there are lots of adventures to be had around the island. We'll provide cups, napkins, and some non-alcoholic drinks (booze is BYO; no glass bottles allowed on the island).

RSVP (with planned potluck offering) to Julia Staverosky '02 at stav@alumni.reed.edu.

Thirsty Third Thursday

Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies on Thirsty Third Thursday. Look for the pink table-top sign and the stuffed griffin at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.

Facebook + Listserves

The chapter now has a Facebook page, check us out!

Also, the chapter has an email listserve to arrange get-togethers with fellow Reedies on short notice. If you want to invite Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, please send an email to the list. This is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who have subscribed to the web page. There is an option to get the messages combined in one message daily or weekly; please subscribe at https://www.lists.reed.edu/mailman/listinfo/alumni-ny-network

If you have an idea for an event please contact the NY chapter. We'd love to hear your ideas.
