International Chapters – Europe/London

The Europe/London chapter has recently set up an email listserve to make it possible to arrange short notice get togethers with fellow Reedies. If you want to invite your fellow Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, send an email to the list. However, it is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who've gone to a web page to subscribe. This means you need to subscribe yourself so that you can see what other people want to do. There is an option to get all the messages combined in one message once a day or weekly. Summer picnic

You are cordially invited to our annual picnic gathering at Regent's Park on Saturday, July 12, starting at 1 p.m. and ending in the late afternoon (probably when it starts to rain).*

We will meet at the bandstand, which is between the Boating Lake, the Holmes and Regent's College, just to the southeast of Queen Mary's Garden (park map).

Please bring spouses, children, dogs, other picnic accoutrements like frisbees and blankets, and food for yourselves and to share. Plastic cups, plates, and napkins will be provided and a stuffed griffin will identify us.

*Given the ominous weather forecast, I'd like to propose a rain plan for our alumni chapter picnic. If it is raining on Saturday, I suggest that we do dim sum at the Chinese Experience restaurant on Shaftesbury Avenue at 12.30 p.m., followed (if people feel like it) by a visit to the Royal Academy next door, where we can see a Vilhelm Hammershøi exhibit called the Poetry of Silence. If it is not obvious, please just call me on 07 90 886 5922 to find out the plan (I will make the rain call by 10 a.m. on Saturday).

Thirsty Third Thursday

Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies on Thirsty Third Thursday. Look for the pink table-top sign and the stuffed griffin at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.
