Midwestwind on Lake Michigan
Weekend of September 21 & 22
Something a little different for this year's Oktoberfest!
We have a private beach on which to frolic, kayak, play bocce ball, grill, and camp out. The houses we have access to are located near a number of apple orchards and the Kettle Moraine Forest North (more details below). Come for a day or the weekend. Bring the whole family.*
Bring food and drink to share (we have refrigerators, cooking utensils, cups, plates, etc.), your swimsuit, a sleeping bag, and a tent. Oh, and don't forget your towel (though if you do, we have extras)!
Please RSVP to Alison Aske '93 at firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday, September 15, and you will receive directions and more information.
(There is indoor space available for those who do not want to camp, but it is limited, and you must request it when you RSVP; I will do my best to accommodate you.)
Also, we will be attempting to coordinate some carpooling; if you need to hitch a ride or are able to drive some people up, please let me know when you RSVP.
The drive is about 2.5 hours from Chicago, 2 hours from Madison, and 45 minutes from Milwaukee. Nearby apple orchards and Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit.
*No dogs, sorry.
Thirsty Third Thursday
Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies on Thirsty Third Thursday. We've been gathering at The Paramount Room at 415 N. Milwaukee, but it is best to check the listing each month to see if we're at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.
If you want to see where other Thirsty Third Thursday events are happening, check here.
The Chicago chapter has recently set up an email listserve to arrange get-togethers with fellow Reedies on short notice. If you want to invite Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, please send an email to the list. This is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who have subscribed to the web page. There is an option to get the messages combined in one message daily or weekly; please subscribe at https://www.lists.reed.edu/mailman/listinfo/alumni-chicago-network
