Solstice party in Piedmont
Join us at a solstice party for the San Francisco Bay Area Reed alumni chapter at the home of Konrad Alt ’81 and Maureen Kennedy! Once again Reedies from throughout the Bay Area are coming together to light up the longest night of the year, albeit a few days early.
Please bring a favorite holiday dish to share (appetizers, mains, sides, salads, and desserts), as well as the libation of your choice. Please bring a serving utensil and a heating tray or chafing dish if needed.
Friday, December 14, 2012
7–11 p.m.
The Alt Residence
312 Pacific Ave.
Piedmont
Kids are definitely welcome! We’ll have games and a crafts table for them to enjoy.
RSVP for yourself and any guests whom you would like to bring to sfbayreed@gmail.com.
Offers to volunteer for set-up and/or clean-up are welcomed!
Transit: If you are taking public transportation, the Alt family would like everyone to know that the CORRECT bus line to take is the P line (Transbay) and the 11 line (local from downtown Oakland) which both come to Highland Way, only four or five blocks away (albeit a couple of those blocks are steep!).
As it is a residential neighborhood with limited parking, we strongly recommend carpooling, perhaps from a BART station. Carpool requests can be posted to our Facebook page.
Thirsty Third Thursday
In the mood to hang out and have p.m.mething to drink and maybe dinner too? Share conversation and comestibles with fellow Reedies on Thirsty Third Thursday. Look for the pink table-top sign and the stuffed griffin at a pub/bar/restaurant near you.
For information or RSVP, contact sfbayreed@gmail

Reading group
The Reed Peninsula Reading Group is a bunch of alumni who have been meeting monthly for the last ten years or more (no one can actually remember when we started). We meet at the home of a member on the second Wednesday of the month.
Our tastes are eclectic/catholic. We have read A Social History of the Machine Gun as well as having a Kazuo Ishiguro double-header night. We are open to all Reed alumni and their partners.
For more information, please contact Richard Roistacher '65.
Facebook + Listserves
The chapter now has a Facebook page, check us out!
Also, the chapter has an email listserve to arrange get-togethers with fellow Reedies on short notice. If you want to invite Reedies to join you for a concert, movie, drink, dinner or a hike, please send an email to the list. This is an opt-in list, which means the only people who will see the announcements will be people who have subscribed to the web page. There is an option to get the messages combined in one message daily or weekly; please subscribe at https://www.lists.reed.edu/mailman/listinfo/alumni-bay-area-network
If you have an idea for an event please contact the Bay Area steering committee. We'd love to hear your ideas.
